New ServeMontana Campaign Asks Public to Nominate Montanans for Outstanding Community Service
Helena - The Governor's Office of Community Service (serve.mt.gov) announced today a new ServeMontana campaign that encourages the public to nominate outstanding citizens for their dedication and commitment to community service.
"Montanans are doing amazing things every day in their communities," said Jan Lombardi, Director of the Governor's Office of Community Service. "We are seeking the public's help to recognize outstanding individuals for volunteerism and service."
Nominees will have the opportunity to be featured on the serve.mt.gov homepage, during the year, and will be considered by the Montana Commission on Community Service for the Annual ServeMontana Awards that are dedicated to Montana's best in service, volunteerism and community leadership.
The 2011 ServeMontana Awards will be presented at the 2011 ServeMontana Symposium, February 16 and 17, in Helena.
"I was truly shocked when I found out that I was getting an award and really grateful to the people of the community that went to the trouble to nominate me," said Don Burrell, Community Volunteer from Thompson Falls and former ServeMontana Award winner. "This is really a top-notch deal to receive state recognition, especially for me because I'm from a small community and was a farm kid growing up."
To nominate; go to the website:serve.mt.gov; click on 'Serving Montana'.
